The Thailand Meteorological Department held a press conference on the morning of February 21, 2025, and officially announced that the summer of 2025 will begin on Friday, February 28. Every year, the arrival of summer is defined by a series of consecutive days with a maximum temperature of 35 degrees or higher and a change from northerly to southerly winds. In 2025, the La Niña phenomenon will be weak, so it is not expected to be as intense as 2024.
According to the head of the Thailand Meteorological Department, the summer of 2025 will last until mid-May, and the average maximum temperature will be 35-36 degrees, which is about normal. However, temperatures in 14 provinces including Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Tak, Phitsanulok, and Khon Kaen could exceed 42 degrees in April.
In addition, although precipitation is predicted to be 10 to 20% higher than normal, most of the rain will be short-lived and localized, so people are urged to conserve and secure water.
