Thailand Tourist Visa Update
Thailand’s government has confirmed to reduce the visa-free stay period for travelers from many visa-exempt countries from 60 days back to 30 days. The policy reversal comes after authorities raised concerns that the longer stay period, introduced in 2024 to boost tourism, was being misused.
The 60-day visa exemption had applied to visitors from 93 countries, including the US, UK, EU nations, Australia, and several Asian countries. Under the new proposal, most tourists will receive 30-day visa-free entry, while some nationalities may receive shorter stays depending on bilateral agreements.
Thai officials stated that the change is intended to strengthen immigration control while still supporting tourism. Travelers who want to stay longer are able to apply for a 30-day extension at Thai immigration offices.
