(Least We Forget) Tuoi Sleng Genocide Museum
The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a memorial museum located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was originally a high school before being converted by the Khmer Rouge regime into Security Prison 21 (S-21) between 1975 and 1979. During this period, thousands of people were imprisoned, interrogated, tortured, and ultimately executed as part of the regime’s campaign of political repression.
Today, the museum preserves the original prison buildings, cells, photographs, documents, and personal belongings of victims to commemorate those who suffered and died under the Khmer Rouge. It serves as an important historical site, educating visitors about one of the darkest chapters in Cambodia’s history while promoting remembrance, human rights, and the prevention of future atrocities.
