Following the registration of Japan’s “Traditional Sake Brewing” as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage last year, interest in Japanese sake has further increased in Singapore.
Sake Matsuri Singapore was started in 2018 by local sake wholesalers in response to the growing demand for Japanese sake in Singapore. It is an event where general visitors who purchase tickets can gather to taste and purchase Japanese sake. The event has been held nine times so far, with the scale expanding each year.
Event Overview:
Brands and sake-related products that are not yet available in Singapore can be exhibited at the “Japan Exclusives” booth, providing a special opportunity to sell and promote to sake enthusiasts in Singapore.
This event is also an excellent opportunity for breweries and companies handling sake-related products to conduct product test marketing, find sales channels, and establish partnerships as they aim for overseas expansion.
Background:
The total export of Japanese sake has tripled over the past 10 years. In 2024, Japan’s sake export to Singapore is estimated to be around 1.5 billion yen, making Singapore the 6th largest export destination in the world.
