Bangkok Flood Situation – Current Status 29 September 2026
Bangkok is currently seeing some improvement following the exceptionally heavy rainfall and flooding of the past several days, although floodwater remains in a number of low-lying and suburban areas.
Rainfall has eased: Bangkok experienced more than 300–330 mm of rain in around 48–72 hours, resulting in flooding across all 50 districts and the city being declared a disaster-affected area.
Water levels are receding in many central areas: Much of inner Bangkok has begun to dry out, although some roads and communities—particularly in eastern and suburban districts—remain affected.
Drainage operations continue: The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is continuing to pump and drain accumulated water, with priority given to heavily affected communities and major transport routes.
Transport: Bangkok’s major airports remain operational, but travelers should allow additional time because road conditions and local flooding can still cause delays.
Tourism: The situation is not uniform across Bangkok. Many hotels, restaurants, shopping areas and tourist attractions are operating, while specific low-lying neighborhoods and roads continue to experience disruption.
Current outlook: The immediate situation is improving compared with the weekend, but continued caution is advised, particularly around canals, rivers and low-lying areas. Further heavy rain could temporarily worsen local flooding. The Thai water Bangkok monitoring center is currently showing moderate rainfall forecasts for today and tomorrow.
